CARE AND PREPARATION – ALSTROEMERIA
DIY Bulk Flower Guide

To ensure optimal freshness and proper bloom development, please follow these steps carefully upon receiving your flowers:

  1. Unpack immediately. Remove the flowers from the box as soon as they arrive.
  2. Remove outer packaging. Take off all outer packaging and protective sleeves.
  3. Remove protective bloom nets. Alstroemeria blooms are typically shipped with a protective net around each flower. Hold the stem firmly at the base and gently pull the net upward from the top until it slides off completely. Do not pull directly on the petals.
  4. Remove lower leaves. Strip off any foliage that would sit below the water line to keep the water clean and prevent bacteria buildup.
  5. Prepare clean water. Fill a clean bucket or vase with fresh water. Add floral food and stir until fully dissolved.
  6. Trim the stems. Cut approximately 1–2 inches off the stems at an angle using sharp scissors or a knife.
  7. Hydrate the flowers. Place the stems immediately into water and keep them in a cool area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  8. Allow blooms to open. Alstroemeria continue to open after arrival and generally look their best after 24–48 hours. This timing should be considered when planning events or installations.
  9. Ready to use. Use once blooms have reached the desired stage of opening, or keep in clean water until needed.
  10. Daily care. Change the water regularly, remove any spent blooms, and re-cut stems as needed.
