Our locally grown Hanging Green Amaranthus is a spectacular seasonal flower known for its long, cascading green tassels and lush, natural texture. Grown in Canada and available for a short period, typically from August through September, this local variety is especially full and abundant, making it an exceptional choice for designs that need movement, volume, and dramatic trailing elements.
One of the most distinctive features of our Canadian-grown Hanging Green Amaranthus is its natural foliage. Unlike imported South American amaranthus, which generally arrives with little to no greenery, the locally grown product is harvested with its leaves intact. The foliage can be left on for a lush, garden-inspired appearance or removed for a cleaner, more refined look, depending on the style of your floral design.
Because this is a naturally grown product, each stem is unique. Some stems may have long, pronounced cascading tassels, while others may be shorter, fuller, more upright, or hang at a different angle. This natural variation is part of the character of locally grown amaranthus and should be considered when planning your arrangements.
Its flowing shape makes Hanging Green Amaranthus particularly effective in elevated centrepieces, large installations, arches, cascading bouquets, urn arrangements, and designs where flowers are intended to spill naturally over the edge of a container or structure.
Our locally grown Canadian Hanging Green Amaranthus is only available for a short season, generally August through September, depending on the growing season and crop availability. Outside the local season, we may offer a South American-grown Hanging Green Amaranthus instead. The imported product is a different crop and is generally less full and arrives with little to no foliage, so its appearance should not be expected to be identical to our local Canadian-grown amaranthus.
